False End Tread Caps
A false end tread cap is a specialized wood component used to finish the open side of a staircase that is primarily carpeted. It provides the clean, high-end look of a solid wood tread end without the cost and labor of replacing the entire tread. These caps feature a contemporary design with a prominent nosing (available in squared or rounded profiles) and are engineered for a seamless fit. They are an ideal solution for stair remodels, particularly when converting a closed-in staircase or upgrading an existing balustrade with modern components like our Aalto series iron balusters and square newel posts.
To accommodate various staircase layouts, our false end tread caps are available in three distinct configurations. Left-hand and right-hand caps feature a mitered return on the corresponding side, designed to wrap the corner of the tread on an open staircase. A non-return cap is also available for use in the middle of a run or against a wall. This versatility allows for a professional finish on nearly any stair layout. Installation is straightforward, providing a clean foundation for balusters and a defined edge for the carpet runner. Browse the options below to find the correct configuration for your project.
