RetroTread® by Young Manufacturing is a solid hardwood overlay system for converting carpeted stairs to hardwood. After removing the carpet and pad, the new tread installs directly over the existing, structurally sound stair frame—no full demolition required.

A key detail is the integrated extended cove molding under the nosing. It covers the joint between the old tread and the new overlay for a clean, finished look without extra molding. Each kit also includes a primed white riser, so you get a complete tread-and-riser solution for one step.
