The House of Forgings 16.3.9 Level Base Collar is specifically designed to accommodate 1/2″ square iron balusters. Crafted from cast iron, it features a 1.57″ round base and is intended for flat surface applications, requiring epoxy for secure placement. This base collar simplifies installation by eliminating the need for alignment adjustments common with square profiles.
Key specs:
Model: 16.3.9.
Type: Level Base Collar.
Compatibility: Fits 1/2″ square balusters.
Base Size: 1.57″ round.
Material: Cast iron.
Installation: Requires epoxy for secure placement on flat surfaces; no alignment adjustment needed.
Usage Tips: Apply epoxy to secure the collar to a flat surface, ensuring a firm bond with the 1/2″ square baluster. Clean with a soft, dry cloth to maintain the finish; avoid abrasive cleaners. Note that this is a decorative component and does not provide structural support.
We love our new stair rail. I consider myself very handy and never installing a stair rail before found this very simple to do. I followed the instructions that were provided and simply installed the stair rail. We love the design as well. I’d submit a before and after picture but I don’t see a way to do that here.

These base collars are just what is needed to retrofit an existing balustrade system with something more elegant and trim it out properly.

These collars are perfect and solid iron. Exactly what I was looking for. Some collars in the big stores were plastic, but these are much better

Since you asked.
I had miss counted base collars on my initial order, this was just to finish up.
5 collars for 2.39 each. Cool. Unfortunately your cheapest shipping option burned up an additional 24 bucks. Really? The whole thing was under pound and fit in envelope. (Maybe a USPS option for 8$?). I was not in a hurry to receive them.
That said, the balusters and collars are in , they look great and the client loves them. Your website is great with a great selection- and easy to navigate.
