Select options
This House of Forgings 8070-24X72 bullnosed stair tread is 24 inches deep, 72 inches long, and 1 inch thick, built from solid wood for standard residential staircase updates. The bullnose rounds one edge to create a finished look when installed at the front of the step.
Key specs:
- Material: Solid wood construction (no hollow cores or fillers) using multiple slices layered with opposing grain directions to reduce warping over time; available in multiple species.
- Dimensions: 24″ depth, 72″ length, 1″ thickness.
- Code compliance: Meets International Residential Code (IRC) standards for tread depth in residential stairs.
- Design: Bullnose on one edge; unfinished and ready to stain for custom matching.
- Usable sides: Only one side is suitable for installation—the visible stepping surface has consistent color and no defects. The reverse side may have variations, so install with the proper face up.
Usage Tips: Consider replacing all treads at the same time for best color matching. Although ready to stain, inspect for handling marks or smudges and lightly sand with 220-grit or finer paper, then wipe clean with a tack cloth before applying stain to ensure even absorption.
Availability and lead times:
- Red oak and white oak: Stocked and ready for immediate shipping.
- All other species (custom options): Made to order with up to 4 weeks production time plus shipping; no returns or exchanges on customs.
