This part 5900 is a small modern routed newel post that measures 56″ tall by 5-1/2″ wide.
This product is considered solid with an engineered construction. There is an outer layer on all 4 sides that is approx. 1/8″ thick while the interior of the post is made out of multiple layers of alternating grain wood with no hollow portions. This alternating grain interior layering prevents warping while the outer layer provides the appearance of a high quality grain matched wood post. This level of engineering not only provides a more visually appealing product, it also keeps the cost of a large solid newel affordable.
