This House of Forgings 6210 bendable handrail is 14 feet long for staircase installations. It follows industry-standard profiles.
Key specs:
- Material: Wood construction with 7-10 vertical slices for flexibility and layered joints with opposing grain directions to prevent warping; available in multiple species.
- Dimensions: 14 FT length; 2-5/8″ width, 2-3/8″ height.
- Code compliance: Meets International Residential Code (IRC) standards for graspable handrail profiles in residential stairs.
- Design: Bendable traditional profile; unfinished and ready to stain, free of knots and defects.
- Joints: Our construction consists of butt joints on the top layer with finger joints on the side. Joints are typically every 4 to 6 feet.
Usage Tips: Although ready to stain, inspect for handling marks or smudges and lightly sand with 220-grit or finer paper, then wipe clean with a tack cloth before applying stain to ensure even absorption.
Construction: Wood handrail will contain some joints and is constructed in layers. This type of construction puts the grain going against each other in order to prevent potential future warping. All wood bends has the potential to bend and when it does it typically bends one single direction which is why virtually all handrail produced will have the construction method similar to ours and aims to prevent wood warping. Also many wood species simply do not come in these extreme lengths. Our handrail gets installed daily in custom and production homes with zero issues and stains beautifully.
Availability and lead times:
- Red oak: Stocked and ready for immediate shipping.
- All other species (including exotics, custom options): Made to order with up to 4 weeks production time plus shipping; no returns or exchanges on customs.
Shipping: This can only ship heavy freight due to the length. Anything over 8 ft can not ship ground. Contact us for more info.

Quincy Haines –
make sure your bending form is rock solid and perfectly shaped.
Odessa Graves –
We needed to make a fairly complex bend over a 14-foot span, and the quality of the wood in this bending rail was crucial.
Lyman Fulton –
Our architect designed a staircase with a long, flowing curved handrail, and this Red Oak bending rail was key to bringing that vision to life!
