Decorative Starting Step Kits

A starting step is the wider first step at the base of a staircase. It creates a grander entry and often anchors a volute or turn-out newel post. The most common style is the bullnose starting step, with one or both ends rounded in a half-circle. That curved return lets balusters follow the arc for a smooth transition from the floor to the handrail on an open-sided staircase.

All components are unfinished solid wood, ready to stain or paint to match your flooring and other stair parts.
